Tell the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee to Support Nonspeaking People and Communication Access!

Image has text that reads "Request for Public Comment: The IACC invites public comment to inform the development of the 2021-2022 IACC Strategic Plan" with images with the covers of former strategic plans and the logo of the Interagency Autism Coordinating CommitteeThe U.S. Governments Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) helps determine how federal government money related to autism is spent. Although CommunicationFIRST is a cross-disability organization, a large percentage of our constituency is autistic. We have been encouraged to submit comments to help inform the 2021-2022 IACC Strategic Plan, and we encourage you to do the same.

At least one-third of autistics require communication tools and supports, but nowhere near enough attention and resources are spent to ensure nonspeaking autistics are provided with access to robust, language-based augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), or provided with equitable access to education, employment, and community living opportunities.

Help us encourage the IACC to fix this!

Comments on the IACC's 2021-2022 Strategic Plan may be submitted by anyone, and are due no later than November 30, 2021. We have prepared these sample comments to make it easier for our community to submit comments if you wish!
