School Shootings Easy-Read Resource (Updated)

Cover of Easy Read Toolkit on School Shootings with text: "What are School Shootings, How do they make us feel, and what can we do about them? K-12 Easy Read" with logos of ASAN, Teaching Is Intellectual, and CommunicationFIRSTWe are devastated that there is a need for such a resource, but CommunicationFIRST is humbled to partner with The Nora Project, Teaching is Intellectual, and the Autistic Self Advocacy Network in the creation and sharing of this free, K-12 easy-read resource on school shootings: English version / Spanish version.

All students need and deserve access to materials to help them understand and process the trauma of school shootings. Students with disabilities -- especially students who need augmentative and alternative communication -- are often left out of these discussions.

CommunicationFIRST played a small role in assisting The Nora Project, in conversation, collaboration, and with the guidance of mental health professionals, educators, and other disability-led organizations, to create this Easy Read resource to help all K-12 students understand the current events, engage with their feelings, and create change. Now available in Spanish here!
